2006 New York Mets News
October 19: The NYMets lost the final 7th game tonight against the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Championship Series with a score of 3 to 1. The NYMets scored a run in the bottom of the 1st inning and the Cardinals scored one in the top of the 2nd. The score then remained tied 1-1 until the top of the 9th, when the Cardinals scored two more runs. The NYMets still had a chance to win in the bottom of the 9th with the bases loaded and two out, when Beltran was struck out at bat and the NYMets' last chance to go to the World Series was ended. Nevertheless, the NYMets had a great season. One that was certainly better than that other New York team - what's their name.

April 28: The NYMets minor-league pitcher, Yusaku Iriki, was suspended for 50 games after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. He became the first player to be suspended under the new harsher penalties Major League Baseball established this year.
